If the look isn’t broken, why fix it? This must be what Isabel Marant was thinking when she was designing her subline, Étoile Isabel Marant’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection. This season, it’s all about the signature staples that women from all around have fallen in love with. It’s a comfy collection with its own unique edge, yet it’s still the same brand of Parisian chic as well. First, there were the nods to Victorian dressing, such as the mutton-style sleeves and the ruffled shirtdresses, the latter of which were both innocent-looking yet sexually subversive. A tinge of masculinity came in the more sleek and tailored ensembles, particularly a black business jacket and the khaki cargo pants. As always, Marant also provided some coziness with her fine knits, many of which were a tad oversized to create a more fashionable silhouette. Through the years, Isabel Marant has been consistent in giving women strong, versatile, and chic clothes. And as she approaches her 25th anniversary, it’s nice to know things haven’t changed.
