“Latina Glamour” may have just found its new looks courtesy of Esteban Cortazar. His latest line just flourished with vivacious spirits and unabashed eclecticism native to that part of the world. However, it didn’t always work. His Fall 2019 is 50-50 for us. While we can’t deny the sexy silhouettes in bright neon colors and the impeccable tailoring on the strong outerwear selection, there was just a little bit too much of everything. Firstly, we get that it’s a stylistic choice, but opera gloves have got to go! They have no place in refining and accentuating Cortazar’s pieces, and are rather just distractions than anything else. The line could have used better proportions too—some of the coats and jackets drowned the model with their overwhelming shapes. And those prints? We get they have that Latina flair, but surely there are better graphics and motifs out there that can conjure up the same spirit! These were just tacky and not even suitable for curtain use! Still. we can’t deny the desirability of those more tailored pieces. The ribbed charcoal sweaters and the billowy cocktail frocks also offer softness without going out of line. It’s just a shame they have to share the spotlight with the more gruesome pieces in the lot!
