Essential by Lacoste Review
Description
Essential does not make an impression of being an exclusively male scent. It starts off strong with green notes, such as the sweet tomato leaf not often seen in others, tangerine and bergamot. Soon enough, the pepper and sour rose emerge, but instead of overwhelming the top notes, they complement. The base blends well eventually, but the top notes can still be picked out. It is a tad sweet than your usual men’s fragrance, but that doesn’t mean it is any less because of its crisp and clean scent. However, it could benefit from better longevity and sillage.

Longevity
Positives
Opens with a lovely, green scent courtesy of tangerine, tomato leaf and bergamot
Rose and pepper make for an interesting combination of floral and spice
Clean and chill, will not offend anyone
The top notes can be picked up by the nose from beginning to end
Can potentially appeal to women because of its sweetness
Negatives
Woodsy bottom notes are a tad too subtle
Both sillage and longevity are areas for improvement

Essential by Lacoste is housed in a minimalist flacon that still strikes the interest of the many, an achievement that is not unusual for the brand. A fresh, citrusy fragrance, it was introduced to the market in 2005. The notes are composed of cassia, tomato leaf, tangerine, bergamot, rose, pepper, patchouli and sandalwood. Model Axel Hermann is the face for the scent’s ad campaigns.
