Streetwear, as the fashion world knows it, is supposed to be the antithesis to traditional high fashion. It’s supposed to be nonchalant, giving off an “I don’t give a f&^%” attitude that’s rarely evident in classic tailoring and haute couture. But among all the streetwear brands that have recently gone high fashion, Enfants Riches Deprimes is, for us, one of few that have retained their light attitude but with a more luxurious appeal. In his Fall 2019 Menswear collection, Henri Levy sent out an array of looks that were as smooth as ever, yet was also completely and precisely designed. The attitude may seem easy but with its soft and sensual silhouettes and sleek allure, these were highly stylized looks. Leather jackets for men and women amped up the cool factor to a notorious degree, giving off a slightly vintage style that went a bit too retro at times, yet still modern. Shimmering satin and nylon suits, however, played a hand on luxuriating the streetwear aesthetic up to a more upscale market. But having them paired with virtually nothing underneath the jackets still upheld that underground look. And the psychedelic prints on shirts and bombers? We think they’ll match well with either a pair of jeans or a well-made suit. It’s clear that this brand is youth-centric, but to see it evoke a more mature aesthetic this season was definitely fascinating
