The idea that genius comes in a single look is far too outdated—often we imagine the stereotypical nerd that dresses with ill-fitting clothes. The reality is that it takes on many shapes and sizes, something Moncler is more than willing to acknowledge with its project, Moncler Genius. These days, the word doesn’t necessarily have to be synonymous with the the fashionably challenged, especially when you have eight brilliant designers under your wing that can make any person’s wardrobe smarter.

As an attempt to remain relevant and be introduced to the new generation of consumers who want a taste of the finer things in life, luxury outerwear brand Moncler created the Moncler Genius. It is meant to combine the label’s technical expertise with that of fashion, courtesy of some of the industry’s esteemed luminaries. The series, which began this year, has been met with acclaim and success thus far.

Some of the names the label has collaborated with are Simone Rocha, Craig Green, Pierpaolo Piccioli, and Francesco Ragazzi. Each capsule collection, released in batches, is unlike each other, further proving the point that genius has more than one appearance. This has been made visual by the brand through a series of photos taken in art museum, with the models clad in designer Moncler Genius pieces.

Rocha has released pieces that infuse feminine finishes on Moncler’s utilitarian pieces, and by feminine we mean to say embellishments that go along the lines of ruffles and florals. Emerging menswear Craig Green, meanwhile, drags the brand to the current times by applying on its outerwear architectural silhouettes, even oversized at times, resulting in edgier garments. Piccioli’s work is unexpected considering his work over at Valentino, but incorporating Renaissance styles into Moncler’s jackets and coats is still a breath of fresh air. Meanwhile, Ragazzi, who got his start at Moncler and has now launched his own streetwear brand Palm Angels remains faithful to what he has learned from the label while injecting some of his personal style as seen at his LA-inspired company.

Moncler has recently opened pop-up stores with the intent to showcase the results of its many collaborations, which is still ongoing at its point. Last October 4, Ragazzi led the opening in the Japanese capital and a fashion destination in its own right, Tokyo. The store can be found specifically at the city’s Aoyama District, which is among the country’s wealthiest neighborhoods. The area also provides an unparalleled shopping experience especially among younger shoppers with its lines of stores of international fashion houses as well as restaurants.

Pop-ups also appeared in other fashion capitals, among them London, New York and Los Angeles. The Italian luxe outerwear manufacturer has conquered both coasts of the United States with its display of genius by the designers working in partnership with the brand. Among the attendees for the Los Angeles opening include Madelaine Petsch and Katharine Ross, while A$AP Ferg performed for the dancing LA crowd.

The label did not miss the Fashion Month, taking its collection to the runway of the Milan Fashion Week. The presentation was partially shown through short videos, created especially for the occasion by the collaborating designers.
