Restraint is the key word at Dunhill’s Fall 2019 collection. This label is one of many that will benefit from the industry’s return sense of elegance, of which designer Mark Weston used to his advantage. Here, the silhouettes were full, in it that they were long, lean, and dominant. There was an 80s-sort of oversized look to it that was broadly masculine, yet sensual with the easy tailoring that wasn’t so severe. That bombastic “Wolf of Wall Street” decade evidently guided this line, but also the colorful vibrancy of the era as well, translated her via the splashes of purple and teal among the heavily somber neutral color palette. The casualness of it all was further emphasized by the appearance of split-cuff trousers, allowing men more agency to move about and act freely. Still, this was an incredibly sophisticated collection, of which remains to be the heart of the brand!
