Thrilled to Wear Dresses in the Fall - Here are 5 Trends to Know

September 2022 Sales (LATEST)

It was not too long ago that we bid summer a tearful goodbye, which means that we also have to put certain pieces at the back of the our closets, only to be taken out in another year. We may miss plenty of them lighter garments, but luckily we women have dresses that are appropriate all year round. Even more fortunate is the fact that fall isn’t especially limiting when it comes to the styles, which can vary from ultra-conservative to something louder and wilder, as well as everything in between. The same can be said for this year’s trends, regardless of your priorities for dressing up.

Whether you’re protecting yourself from the chills or aiming to achieve a certain standard of style with your frocks, there’s something to be tried in the following fall trends. Here are five of our top dress trends that will mark this season as one of your most stylish times yet.

Leopard Print Dresses

We’re starting off with something wild that is not entirely new. Animal prints, and in particular leopard prints, have never really gone away, although they’re making an interesting entrance in this year’s fall fashion scene. It’s not an intuitive choice as the print contrasts the calming effect of autumnal hues, does not blend in the background and immediately grabs your attention. Animal prints can also be tricky, but the takes of designers for this year are generally tasteful and flattering.

Fall Floral

You don’t have to limit floral to certain seasons such as spring and summer if you don’t want to. Fall floral can be just as lovely, although they can appear edgier and moodier than that of other seasons’ blooms. Often set in darker shades, the print can lend a vibe of maturity so you could be taken more seriously as well as drama. Accessories can also make or break your ensemble, so choose appropriately.

Prairie Dresses

Prairie dresses may take us back to a time that we barely remember anymore, but that doesn’t mean they cannot be done in bolder picks for color and injected with modern accessories. Fall 2018 has certainly been gutsier when it comes to the feminine silhouette, with the style available in plenty of shades and hues to rock. The frocks have also been partnered with polarizing accessories, among them dad sneakers, carefully treading modesty and ballsiness.

Neon and Lightweight

It may be due to the planet that’s becoming warmer than ever, but we’re not ready to let go of bright colors and light fabrics just yet. Traditionally, fall has been filled with darker and muted colors, but there’s nothing to keep us from taking advantage of fashion not generally having definitive rules. The brighter colors this season can help us tolerate the temperature better, even when it’s just aesthetically. Celebrities are crazy for them even late into the year; if you’re uneasy, you can balance the brightness with a darker jacket and accompanying accessories.

Knitwear

Knitted dresses keep things casual while also providing enough cover from the cooler temperature. It’s not new to the season and is one of the conventional picks, but this year we find that they’ve been undergoing a fashionable makeover. They no longer have to be unnecessarily thick; you can also team them up with sneakers for an ultimate chic and cool look.
