Pros
The ‘Rose des Vents’ watch features an eight-rayed star reminiscent of a compass. This unique design actually moves like a compass when the wearer moves her hands from side to side. Its magical, gypsy-like design harkens back to Christian Dior’s beliefs in astrology-a reference that has influenced a number of Dior designers, from John Galliano to Maria Grazia Chiuri. The watch itself is offered in four colors with different materials: a silver steel variation, an ice-pink version with mother of pearl embellishments, a red sapphire selection, and an emerald green malachite piece.
Cons
Its size comes with its name: Mini. With a diameter of only 19mm, Dior’s La Mini D de Dior ‘Rose des Vents’ is one of the worlds of horology’s smallest inventions. While the size might make its indelible design interesting, it also makes it difficult for the owner to view its majesty. The 19mm in diameter is too small for the creativity that is enthused in the timepiece to really pop out and make a statement. Furthermore, the size also makes it that much more difficult for the owner to tell the time, defeating the piece’s functional purpose.
