Delpozo may be in a transitory state as newly-appointed creative director Lutz Huelle prepares to take on the reigns of the house next season, but one wouldn’t know it upon inspection of their Fall 2019 collection. Designed by the in-house design team, the style of Josep Font still clearly lingers on before the new designer (possibly) changes the aesthetics altogether. Font’s couture-like eye for design, paired with the atelier’s high-caliber construction, influenced the design team to come up with a commendable offering of structured daywear and frilly cocktail pieces that were all perfectly pretty and polished. The tailoring here was immaculate, with shapes, forms, and frills so structured, one would think they were crafted by a sculptor in marble. The embellishments remained sufficient and sparkly—colorful enough to attract attention but never overbearing. As for the floatier frocks, they remained light, airy, and utterly sophisticated. While it’s exciting to anticipate what Lutz Huelle will bring to the brand, this signature aesthetic of haute couture-like beauty will definitely be missed!
