There was something animalistic about Cushnie Pre-Fall 2019 Collection, although one would have never seen it at first glance. Inspired by ad campaigns and films that have used real wild animals, Carly Cushnie put on a sophisticated take on savagery this season. According to her, you don’t have to pile up as much animal prints as you can to evoke a sense of fauna-induced finesse, which was exemplified quite well in this offering. Although there were still some classic leopard spots here and tiger stripes there, they were completely refined and not tacky at all. The latter, in particular, wasn’t even a print at all, but rather an embellished feature on sexy mustard yellow cocktail dresses. Here, the savagery came more on how the pieces embraced the body, almost like a second skin, which itself is a signature of the brand. No doubt many members of the urban jungle would love to sport these numbers come fall!
