To dress Tonne Goodman, one of the most prolific Vogue editors in recent times, in an outfit made entirely out of recycled clothing is quite an amazing feat. But Chris Peters and Shane Gabier managed to do it, in what was probably one of their most sustainable collections ever. Their Fall 2019 show for Creatures Of The Wind was a testament to how there’s never a scarcity of ideas in incorporating eco-friendly processes into the mainstream field of fashion. Here, it was all about repurposing old clothes, from transforming a well-made tuxedo into an interestingly shaped coat to old t-shirts tye-dyed and worn with all slips and frocks made out of old fabrics. The beautifully delicate final look of a white shapeless tunic was clearly a combination of all sorts of previous garments, but the result was almost wedding-worthy for any urban bride. Overall, there was a lot to unpack in this collection, and the fact that this is a highly-sustainable offering makes it even more groundbreaking!
