Angelic is an adjective rarely given to men. It seems that the idea of pure spiritual goodness is, to many people, an exclusively feminine idea rather than a masculine trait. But there are still those who think that certain “gentle” manifestations aren’t and shouldn’t be restricted to one sex or the other. One such is British designer Craig Green, whose Spring 2019 menswear collection shown in Florence, Italy was a display of spiritual transcendence. He started with looks that were paired with cords in human silhouettes—suggesting the presence of guardian angels guiding the models on the runway. This was followed by a parade of played-up surgeons and postmen uniforms, he referred to as professions that mankind relies on, which were clean-cut with streamlined shapes,. They were also made in such vividly electric colors—as if one is in a colorful trance where multicolored angels are walking on Earth. And by the end, the tailoring was substituted onto shapeless tunics, very Biblical in their silhouettes, to really bring the spiritual narrative into a definitive and big finish.
