Nothing ever really beats the classics! Over at Corneliani, at their latest Fall 2019 Menswear presentation, the narrative was about the current times. The fashion world is presently in a sort of limbo period wherein it’s venturing (or at least, attempting to) away from the streetwear mania and going back to the more tailored and sophisticated aesthetics that has long defined luxury. But it can’t be denied that the sportswear moment had such a huge impact that many brands are still quite affected by, including Corneliani. For this season, style director Gaudioso Tramonte combined the two in an effortlessly elegant yet easy collection. Although many looks here were borderline boring, one can’t deny the sheer luxuriousness and quality of such clothes. Soft and light cashmere coats, impeccably tailored tweed pieces, and supple leather jackets and accessories make for a highly sophisticated wardrobe for the modern gentleman. This is no longer the sort that wears three-piece suits every day. but the one that knows the impact of a well-cut ensemble and knows how to work it with distinguished ease. While not totally sublime, this offering is very much close to it!
