Converse Aero Jam Hi ‘Black’ Review
Converse captured the concept of throwback in the re-release of the Aero Jam Hi ‘Black’, one retro shoe incorporated with modern details to give it a fresh look. Hints of teal and yellow accent the black nubuck upper with a bulky strap as a highlight. Accents of cons in the strap and and aerojam at the back complete the design of the upper, while another colorful cons mark adorn the sole. We love 90s-inspired chunky shoes, but for us, the huge strap on this design doesn’t quite feel right.

Hints of teal and orange keeps the design fresh
Sole looks amazing, design-wise
Bulky strap on top looks out of place in the design

Made popular by Larry “Grandmama” Johnson, this is a classic silhouette that has been updated with this Aero Jam Hi ‘Black’ version. Authentic retro look of the silhouette was mixed with fresh hues of teal and orange, shown in sparsely located brandings all over the shoe. The contrast of the mostly black nubuck upper with the accents are great, compensating for the lack of appeal of the bulky strap on top of the lacing system.
