Clinique Chubby Stick™ Sculpting Contour Crayon Review
Product Description
The Clinique Chubby Stick™ Sculpting Contour wants to be your reliable, ultra-portable go-to, but there’s just too much in its way. Despite a great size for all-around contouring, and a formula that doesn’t drag and is easy to blend. It has huge hurdles to get past. First of all, the one color this is available in looks just plain wrong on most skin types. The application is also patchy, and the product gets very oily, which makes the wear time much worse than it should be.

One of the newest products out of Clinique’s signature Chubby Stick™ collection is the Chubby Stick™ Sculpting Contour. This product is a crayon-like makeup stick that aims for absolute versatility and precision.

The size of the product itself is a huge strong suit, dispensing just the right amount of color in each swipe, whether you’re using it on the cheeks, the jawline or the nose. Its ability to be swiped over most base makeup without dragging or otherwise disturbing makeup that’s already there is also a plus. It’s also very blendable, so you don’t have too difficult a time working the “shadow” you’ve created to look smoother, gentler.

Probably one of the biggest missteps of this product is the lack of a shade range—it’s only available in one color. This is a mistake because despite a pretty great formula, only very specific skin tones can get good use of this product to contour, as it looks mostly orange-y or too bronzer-like on other skin tones. It also tends to apply a little patchier than it should, so you’d sometimes have to go back to specific sections just to even out the pigmentation. Despite claiming to be oil-free, this product does exacerbate oiliness, which also negatively impacts the overall wear time.

Overall, we think this is a pretty good contour stick, but it’s definitely not the best one out there, even in its price range. We reckon there are other formulas out there that’ll give you what you need, both color and formula-wise.

SUITABLE FOR: Normal to dry skin types.
