Cabochard by Parfums Grès Review
Description
There’s no toying around Cabochard. It is heavy, intense and dark, and a single spray would be like entering a room with authority. To us, it is a potent combination of blooms, green notes and leather. The fragrance starts out dry, and the florals are noted easier from afar, but the scent then develops to be stronger. We feel that the leather isn’t as off-putting here as it would others, and it might appeal just as much to men as it would to women.

Cabochard is perhaps the most known fragrance from Parfums Grès. First released in 1959, it was inspired by the house matriarch Madame Grès’ trip to India, and is said to remind her of the walks by the shore she took while she was there. Its fragrance notes include aldehydes, sage, tarragon, orris root, rose, geranium, jasmine, ylang ylang, amber, coconut, oakmoss, leather, patchouli, vetiver and sandalwood. The original fragrance was created by Bernard Chant and has inspired a batch of flankers released in later decades.
