Breitling Transocean 38 Chronograph Watch Review
Breitling has built a legacy of fine watchmaking that has helped both the luxury retail business and the history of the world. Some of their finest timepieces were used and bought during the world’s most tenacious eras, and a lot of them are still offered today as a reminder of such. One of their more contemporary models, the Transocean 38 Chronograph, pays tribute to the original 1958 model of its name, only now encased in smaller timepiece since it’s offered for women. Yet even with all the changes, one can still see the essence of the original timepiece and the new stories it can give to new owners.

A luxury timepiece is a timeless treasure for any owner. Some have historical value, upon which their foundations were built on legacies that are as relevant today as they were back in the day. Others hold significant functions, built upon the navigation of various men and women during times of war. Despite being an accessory for any fashionable means, timepieces are relics of a past world, some of which are still reflected even with today’s newest models. Just look at Breitling’s Transocean 38 Chronograph.

Release Date and Price

Release date: February 2013
Price when reviewed: $6,350 – $17,785

Released back in February of 2013, the 38-millimeter watch has been a much-talked-about timepiece among critics and collectors alike. The original Transocean model was released all the way back in 1958, and through the years, has seen countless reiterations. The 38 Chronograph is now geared towards Breitling’s female customers, offering them a smaller version of the beloved classic. Its price ranges from $6,350 to $17,785, depending on the type of material one purchases.

Breitling’s Transocean 38 Chronograph watch is the lady’s version of the Swiss brand’s 1958 timepiece, and since women’s taste varies more than men, so do the iterations offered. One can get a Transocean 38 chronograph timepiece in many kinds, one being the more classic silver stainless steel colorway with a black dial or the more glamorous red gold version with a fine leather strap. Whichever one gets, they’ll still be given the essence of the Transocean model, complete with the certified chronograph and two subdials by 3 and 9 o’clock.

Weirdly enough, even though the 38-millimeter Transocean chronograph is supposed to be smaller (especially since it’s marketed as a women’s timepiece), the watch is actually thicker than its larger counterpart. The Transocean 43 Chronograph is comparatively lighter, given that it has a smaller case than the newer iteration. The Transocean 38 Chronograph’s bulkiness and weight may compromise its retail performance among women, its target market, mainly because female customers prefer sleeker and lighter timepieces.
