Horology began as a man’s game, but these days, that’s no longer the case. Centuries of masculine tradition have now been infiltrated by the feminine touch, letting ladies have a go at fine watches. What used to be gentleman’s staple is now welcoming a new consumer audience that is also used to fine things, albeit a different way. This is manifested by Breitling’s new watch, the Navimiter 1 Automatic 38.

Pros
One of the most notable characteristics of the Navitimer 1 Automatic 38 is that it’s as much of a lady’s watch, as it is a gentleman’s. With a smaller diameter of only 38mm, it’s one of the brand’s sleekest items to date. Offered in either black, blue, or silver dials, the watch will look as good and as fit on a man’s wrist as it will certainly look on a woman’s.
But beyond that, clients can also opt for either a classic steel variation or the more beautiful gold version, both with a lot of shimmer and shine in equal measure. Additionally, the Navitimer 1 Automatic 38 is actually one of the first “feminine” offerings from the brand under the new leadership of Georges Kern.
Cons
Breitling is known for their traditional and classic chronograph selection, but it should be noted that the Navitimer 1 Automatic 38 is not part of such. Although other Navitimer offerings are chronographs, this model is decidedly not, more so to fit a more womanly aesthetic than a focus on the piece’s functions. But since Breitling has a very masculine following, this particular model might not receive the same amount of attention and love from the brand’s loyal admirers. It does, however, welcome a new type of consumer audience that can possibly bring about more success for the brand than ever before.
