Haider Ackermann’s work has a certain shine to it that is indelibly and undeniably his. It must be all the satin and silk he’s draped over the years, but it’s also the exemplary skills in his craft. Such skills were on full display at Berluti’s Fall 2018 menswear show in Paris. A master tailor, Ackermann sent 37 sublimely-cut pieces on the runway in the most luxurious fabrics. The well-draped camel trench coat that opened the show was already a winner, as was the shimmering satin cocktail suit of look 32. These clothes looked inevitable to end up on the red carpet, and Ackermann’s current muse Timothée Chalamet is poised to have first dibs. Beyond the red carpet, however, is a quality that is intrinsic with Berluti that no other man, celebrity or otherwise, can ever truly fathom.
