The contemporary market rarely sees experimentation in the design department. They’re often criticized for being glorified high street inching their way into high fashion territory. However, French-Canadian label Beaufille is making it their mission to change this unwelcomed characterization with a bit of experimenting of their own for spring 2019. Firstly, they explored various silhouettes that have become mainstays on high fashion runways: puff sleeves, waistless torsos, over-flared trousers, and the like. With co-founder Chloé Gordon’s background in textile development, they also introduced a new material—”cobweb lace”—turned into sheer turtlenecks and cocktail dresses. This collection isn’t your ordinary array of basics, but a reminder of how exciting any facet of fashion can be.
