Great news for Barbara Bui fans, the designer went back to her chic glam-rock look for Fall 2019. But this time, it’s a lot more languid and easy, very much in the now in terms of evoking a contemporary attitude. See the pleated long-sleeved dress in white, acid yellow, and black. It’s both sophisticated in its fine fabric manipulations, but the silhouettes report a more nonchalant vibe that many women would love to go for. The tailoring here, on the other hand, is infinitely sharper. For those who want to go a more refined and serious route, these are the suits to go. Whether its the monochrome gunmetal set or the bright orange suit in a slightly boxy shape, anyone who wears them will automatically have a more distinguished air about her. The biggest drawback here, however, was the graphics. The clashing of prints, while another signature of Bui’s, was incredibly tacky. It did little to challenge tastes as was simply bad. Not to mention the questionable colors used. Though the gunmetal and crimson were pretty, the icky shade of yellow (or green? we’re not sure!) was downright disgusting. The pieces that bore the shade looked like overblown handkerchiefs from sich children. The collection would have been a lot stronger without these elements!
