If you’ve seen one slip dress, you’ve seen them all. And when you’ve seen one piece from Awaveawake’s Fall 2019 collection, you’ve seen them all too! Yes, that’s how pedestrian this new line from Jaclyn Hodes is. The whole offering looked like she just had leftover silks form last season and bais-cut them endlessly to come up with this boring and mediocre lot. It looked positively lazy, with little to no interesting design ideas to offer her clients this season. She even claims that it’s all about movement, and granted these do look like great clothes to walk a windy path or dance around in, but women are more complex than that. They’d like their clothes to have a little more oomph, especially if she expects to pay large sums of money for them. Here, not only are these empty ideas frightening, they’re even low in quality. The construction on most of the garments are so questionable, even we’re left questioning on why Hodes thought presenting them was a good idea! In fact, customers would have better changes seeing more beautiful slips in a Victoria’s Secret store than this plain selection. A few sparkles here or a few frills there wouldn’t have hurt, but instead, she came up with this unbelievably boring mess. Here’s to hoping she’ll do a lot better next season, for the sake of Awaveawake!
