Say what you want about the 1980s, you can’t deny it was an extremely influential decade in fashion history. So much so that even designers today continue to revel in it, even though they’re working to dress 21st-century women. Granted, there were some great styles that the era gave the world, but none of them informed Attico‘s latest line. In their Fall 2019 collection, Giorgia Tordini and Gilda Ambrosio took the worst of that 80s and updated them to become the worst of the 2010s. However shiny the fabrics are or how stark the colors appear, the entire offering was still out-of-this-world bad! Monotone outfits with shimmering spandex paired with feathers were awful, the crushed velvet pieces looked dated, and the tailoring, while commendable, led to the same old shapes. There was nothing new or original in that outing whatsoever! Hopefully, next season will see Todini and Ambrosio bring their woman back to this decade!
