Camp may have worked as a quirky theme for the Met Gala this year, but not for a day-to-day wardrobe in this day and age. We’re not sure what co-designers Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk were thinking when they thought up their Fall 2019 collection, but we’re slightly sure they weren’t thinking of the everyday woman. Granted their style is for the underground creatures of flamboyant fancies, but even they might feel this line was a little too old-school. Though the harder looks that started the show were sort of good, it quickly went downhill from there! Just take a look at those degrade pink-to-blue outfits in the latter part of the show. Don’t they look just like what the popstars and up-and-comers wore back in the late 90s and early 2000s? We swear we saw Britney Spears wear that degrade faux fur coat with bralette ensemble at an award show during that time! In any case, there was little to no speck of modernity in this show. It was just a flashback to an earlier time when things were slightly more courageous and camp. But what will that do? Do Fogg and Panszczyk really think that rehashing old sensibilities will take their Area brand forward? We don’t agree, and we’re afraid neither will the customers!
