In the late 1960s, supermodel Twiggy dominated the fashion scene and introduced what is now known as “Mod” fashion. She was a revolution in both style and society and allowed girls to don miniskirts, wear tons of makeup, and simply live a fun and fearless life. Such a lifestyle and legacy were what inspired Stacey Bendet to create Alice + Olivia Pre-Fall 2019 collection. There were nods to the Mod style itself, such as the colorful granny dresses, skin-tight sweaters, and miniskirts paired with long coats. Surprisingly, the line also ventured into the disco era—the style movement that succeeded Mod—which came in sparkling color-blocked sequined dresses and a whole lot of python skin. Glamorous and daring, these are the perfect party uniforms for the nostalgic millennials, whose styles are often rooted in vintage looks. No doubt this collection will receive a lot of attention come fall, and the urban nightlife in all the fashionable cities will be a lot shinier and all the more sparkly by then.
