In the 1990s, the partnership between Michael Jordan and Gatorade led to one of the most memorable advertisements of the decade. The video suggested that to be like Mike, one has to consume the same beverage. Already at the height of his career, Jordan, through the ad, introduced more people to Gatorade and paved the way for the latter’s international recognition. Last year, Nike looked back on this collaboration to produce the Air Jordan 6 “Gatorade” sneakers, featuring prominent colors and branding from the sports drink.

Price: US$190 (white/orange), $225 (green suede)
The most dominant colors from the collection are that of white, orange, and green. Besides displaying the three colors, these Air Jordan 6s will also include stitching of “If I Could Be’ and “Like Mike” on the inside of the tongue, making a reference to the 90s ad as well as a lace lock that resembles the drink’s squeeze bottle.
Sure, they’re named after MJ, and even the tagline is linked to him, but the colors do not at all call to mind the basketball legend, making these Air Jordan 6 “Gatorade” sneakers a truly unique product of the all-American sneakers brand. That alone can both turn heads and attract conversation. Despite the bright, solid colorways, the design is actually very clean and the leather feels premium. As with other Air Jordan VIs, the Gatorades feel durable and are comfortable to wear. If you’re among the lucky ones to cop them, they’re often pegged to be at high value because of the limited stocks so you can make quite a profit out of reselling them.
If bright and attention-grabbing colorways are your thing, then the Air Jordan 6 “Gatorade” sneakers may just be the pair for you. Admittedly though, the color combination is too vibrant for most and would pose a problem when styling with your everyday outfit. They are also reported to run large, so it is advisable to go down half your usual size. The quality of the material is not premium all throughout which can be a deal breaker to some buyers. Also, they are quite rare, especially the ones offered in green suede, so you may have to resort to more expensive options such as resellers.
