Michael Jordan did not become a basketball superstar overnight. Once upon a time, he was making a name for himself and his alma mater, the University of North Carolina. The Jordan Brand celebrates not only what has happened to MJ since he came to Chicago, but also the making of a star. The Air Jordan 11 Retro “Win Like ‘82” takes inspiration from the 1982 National Championship which Jordan and his college basketball team won back in the day.

The reason behind the color scheme for the Air Jordan 11 “Win Like ‘82” is simple: it represents the colors of the practice shorts Jordan wore when he was still a college player. The shoes are mostly white, with hints of midnight navy and university blue on some parts. Released in November 2017, the Jordans have been issued in full family sizing. Stocks, however, diminished quickly.
Pros
The Air Jordan 11 Retro “Win Like ’82” is simple in design but does not fail in making an impact. The white leather blends very well with the midnight navy, and the university blue Jumpman branding doesn’t seem out of place in the mix. The chosen colorway that is in line with Michael Jordan’s alma mater works well with the Air Jordan 11 silhouette, which is among the most iconic releases from the Jordan Brand. Moreover, the color scheme makes it easier to pair with other pieces of clothing, too. The upper is in white, while the midnight navy can be seen on the heel and and the inner lining. Inspecting the inside of the shoes will reveal a hard plastic shoe tree. The shoes fit true to size so they should not feel foreign to others who have had Jordans, and the quality of the leather is great and consistent.
Cons
Like many other models, the Air Jordan 11 Retro “Win Like ’82” has the number 23 on the shoe. The number on the ankle though is screen printed instead of stitched in which may be preferred by others. The cushioning isn’t the best either; the kicks feature a full-length Max Air, which can be pretty stiff. A little pain would be felt the first few times when wearing these as they need some time for breaking in to activate the air bubble and make the leather become kinder to the feet.
