The Air Jordans generally cater to male sneakerheads, but the Jordan Brand proves that women’s shoes aren’t an afterthought with a pair that is befitting of royalty. Among last year’s holiday treats was the Air Jordan 11 Heiress Black Stingray, which has a look that is intriguing as its name. The Black Stingray has been preceded by equally stately Heiress shoes in the form of the Night Maroon and the Pure Platinum, and its release was not completely out of the blue. Still, it was anticipated by fans, and by that we mean to include male fans, too.

Women (and men) were not disappointed with the premium Air Jordan 11s—the beloved silhouette is made exclusive with the suede that is employed instead of mesh and patent leather. The shoes that are constructed to look as swell as a little black dress have been modeled by no other than His Airiness’ progeny, Jasmine Jordan. They were released in sizes that go as large as 10.5Y.
Pros
The generally dark sneakers with teases of gold and glitter can lead most to swoon—it really makes a strong impact as soon as you lay your eyes on them. The contrasting textures provided by the suede and the bumpy stingray also elicit feelings of boldness and romance. It doesn’t hurt that the colorway takes on the very popular Air Jordan 11 silhouette. Quality is not a concern, and the leather feels buttery. A few details such as the mudguard even remind fans of the OVO Air Jordan 12s. The saucy sneakers are supported by a midsole and outsole of contrasting colors; the darker outsole blends nicely with the white midsole. The number 23 is stitched on rather than screen printed, which is preferred by many sneakerheads.
Cons
Associating stylish with a little pain is not completely false in the Air Jordan 11 Heiress Black Stingray’s case. The stiff tongue can actually get in the way of comfort before they’re completely broken in, and even then they can still be a point of complaint. The Heiress tag alone already designates that these Jordans are made for women and children, but the dark color appeals to the other sex anyway. Saying that does not mean that everyone will come home satisfied; the sizing for the Heiress Black Stingray is pretty limited.
