AG is a denim brand trying to go beyond that. In their recent collections, they’ve been slowly but surely venturing into more fashionable territories and veering slightly away from the industrial material. Even in their Fall 2019 line, you can see that, while denim was still dominant, there were pieces there that attempted to capture the fancies of the more fashionable crowd. But did they get them? Probably not. This was a highly pedestrian collection that was sort of sad, in a way. We felt that all the ideas here were burnt out. There was nothing original or noteworthy about the whole lot. Some you could even find at a department store for a better price. And what about those “fashionable pieces” we mentioned? Nothing remotely fashionable about them. A plain burgundy dress, a played-up white shirt, and what looked like leather cigarette pants—these have been over and done with. We hope they do a lot better next season!
