Apart from haute couture, sneaker culture is gaining a reputation for their artisanship. More and more new releases are made out of unorthodox materials that one would never have associated sneakers with. This especially rings true with sportswear brands who are collaborating with experimental designers, the likes of Adidas and Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto. The new Y-3 Runner 4D sneakers speak volumes of such.

Among the many sportswear brands with high fashion designer lines, Adidas’ Y-3 with Yohji Yamamoto is arguably the most revolutionary in terms of design. Their new Adidas Y-3 Runner 4D sneakers were just released last February 23, 2018, and has since become a phenomenon in the entire luxury retail industry. A pair costs $550.
Yohji Yamamoto is no stranger to mixing materials together, and the new Y-3 Runner 4D sneakers are no different. The shoes are an interesting interplay of high-quality materials and technologies that the German sportswear brand has made premium to its name—namely the Primeknit upper and high-quality leather panels. Despite such intricate construction, the shoes emit a comfortable fit, more so with its sleek silhouette and extra cushioning in certain areas.
High-quality may not even be enough to describe these shoes and their luxurious fabrications. However, high-quality materials almost always mean difficulty in maintenance. There are certain ways and processes in which to clean and wash the Y-3 Runner 4D sneakers in order to avoid any substantial damage. If one wants to own and wear a pair, they must be familiar with them in order to preserve the utmost quality of their shoes.
