The 70s were a romantic time. Think endless summer getaways in exotic destinations. The likes of Anjelica Huston and Marisa Berenson in the pages of Vogue wearing flowing caftans, wide-brim hats, and orchids in their hair. This carefree time was Nicky Zimmermann starting point for her extremely elegant resort 2019 collection. Beautiful doesn’t even begin to describe the lace and floral dresses, stark-white sexy separates, and easy denim pieces of this seasonal offering. Some hints of python and zebra print added to the ostentatious exuberance that the referenced decade was known for. The tailoring here was also distinct but easy enough to be worn both for work and at the beach. And the polka-dot looks near the end harkened back to the days of unapologetic bliss and youthful romance. It’s clear that Zimmermann knows what women nowadays want, and if that means looking back to yesteryear, so be it.
