The Rolex “Batman” has been around for half a decade now and yet, its shine has still not been dimmed. When it was first released, it was deemed to be a record-setting for being Rolex’s and the world’s first timepiece that has a bi-color ceramic for a bezel. The switch to ceramic is what separates the GMT II from earlier versions; with Batman, the brand takes it a notch higher by using a scratch-resistant, not prone to fading, dual-colored bezel, with the color combination of blue and black not a usual choice for Rolex.
Specifications:
- Movement: 3186, self-winding
- COSC Chronometer Certified
- Case Diameter: 40mm
- Case material: stainless steel
- Water resistance: 100m / 330ft
- Functions: GMT function, date
Pros
The Rolex GMT-Master II “Batman” is a handsome watch. That almost goes without saying, except this uses a color palette not often employed by Rolex, a ceramic bezel that has a premium finish that wowed spectators when it was first introduced and bold details on the dial as well as the case. It is shinier than its predecessors, owing to the polished center links, and the colors’ transition from black to blue and vice-versa is smooth. A feature that it retains from the GMT-Master II family is the capability to keep track and compare three time zones while still maintaining legibility. The bracelet uses an Oysterlock folding clasp so that it securely locked on your wrist.
Cons
The Batman’s case can feel bulkier than its predecessors even though its case is only pegged at 40mm. Also, if you’re looking to consult resellers for a Rolex watch, the Batman isn’t among the timepieces you can bag cheap. Most sellers ask for a premium price, some of which are close to the original price point, despite the brand’s ubiquity.
