Pros
Jaeger LeCoultre made sure to show off its haute horlogerie roots in this watch, hence, you’re assured of getting a timepiece with an excellent mechanism and a unique complication. Housed in a 38.5mm diameter case, Sonatina Large’s visual aesthetic is simply jaw-dropping. Hand-made dials were adorned with guilloche, while the Arabic Numerals are designed with a frost, and the dial reflecting an ethereal range of hues upon being hit by direct light.
The original design of the Sonatina Large was already utterly beautiful, yet with the influence and connection of film with the brand, three more variations of the watch were released. To honor the Venice International Film Festival, Jaeger LeCoultre released the Sonatina “Séduction”, Sonatina “Romance” and Sonatina “Amour”. In place of the simple sun and moon indicator for day and night, Sonatina “Séduction” contain two swallows with a lavender field background, Sonatina “Romance” shows kingfisher on top of a cherry tree, and the Sonatina “Amour” have magpies in love with each other.
The design on the Sonatina Large watches are truly remarkable, yet we wouldn’t forget to mention the alarm feature of this watch—something that Jaeger LeCoultre is really good with. A star indicator sets the alarm time and it with chime the time at the accurate moment.
Cons
We love Jaeger LeCoultre’s Rendez-Vous Sonatina Large watches, yet some of the designs, especially the newest film-inspired ones can be too much for some who prefer simpler designs. Women who love luxury will definitely appreciate the added designs, but those more on the practical side, it could just be a waste of bucks.
