While the industries of jewelry making and watch making sometimes mix and even share similarities, it is rare to find a company that can do both excellently. Cartier is one of the gifted few—in its story thus far, it has released not only iconic jewelry but also timepieces that are revered to this day. In this category, nothing quite beats the Cartier Tank. While the origins of the name is unclear, there is no doubt that it is among the best features of Cartier’s expertise in horology.
There is always something from Cartier Tank that would suit a client’s taste, depending on the selection of precious gems and metals, and even every budget. The Tank Anglaise in particular takes the spotlight for trying to recapture the best that it could the original watch that was given by Louis Cartier to General John Pershing which marked the beginning of everything.

Pros
Fans of the brand know what they want and expect from Cartier. A longtime follower would not be disappointed by the Tank Anglaise XL Model’s appearance. But even if you aren’t familiar, it is very likely that you will be captivated by the careful and intentional work on the piece, too: the case is slightly curved, and the crown is positioned by the thick bezel, offering a luxe view of the watch. Cartier has also pegged down just the right amount of comfort and fit for the timepiece, so you wouldn’t be bothered by the case against your wrist, or a watch that’s slipping on your arms. The Tank Anglaise also comes with a water resistance of up to 30 meters.
Cons
There has been enough praise for its quaint yet plush appearance, but the Tank Anglaise XL Model can improve the way the date appears. It can be difficult to read, sometimes requiring a little squinting, and seems disproportionate considering that the watch has ample space on the dial.
